Vanessa Arias

Architect, Jyväskylä

I am an Architect graduated from the Simón Bolívar University in Caracas, Venezuela. I came to Finland for the first time in 2011 and since then I have been interested about Nordic design. I moved to Finland in 2015 and wrote my thesis work about the Finnish pedagogical system and the new learning spaces. In spring 2019 I started working at UKI Arkkitehdit in Jyväskylä office and I am grateful to be part of a team of great professionals.

I have great interest for learning spaces and sustainable design. I have had the opportunity to participate in the design of learning spaces in different environments (in The Amazon rainforest for The Piaroa tribe and in Finland considering its outstanding pedagogical system) and those experiences have impacted my vision and mission as an architect.  I also enjoy designing residential projects in different scales and that’s what I currently do in UKI.

I am creative, enthusiastic and pay great attention to details. I am passionate to find innovative solutions. In my free time I like to travel and get to know different cultures, languages and societies. I like to take photographs and to be surrounded by nature. I believe in an architecture that respects the natural environment and creates spaces that are in harmony with it.
