Ville Ylönen

Head of Business, Heritage and preserved buildings // Architect SAFA, Helsinki

Diverse tasks and work in diversely scaled projects appeals to me in the architect’s profession. Working with old buildings and historical environments is close to my heart. Projects vary from flowers of modernism to tarry traditional construction.

An architect always works in cooperation with different operators in construction projects. I often encourage people to distance themselves from the task at hand even in the middle of hectic workdays and create alertness for mental work.

A short canoe trip in the outer archipelago or a moment of reading in a hammock are my preferred ways to recover and direct my concentration to the present moment. I live with my family in an old log building on the bank of Vanhankaupunginkoski in Helsinki ‒ the surge of the rapids brings me everyday inspiration in different seasons.
