Vaala municipality office
Vaala 2025 916.00 brm² RAVE Rakennus Oy
Vaala’s new municipal office is located on Village Road, on the site of the former Matkustajakoti -building. Municipal functions will move to the new office building in autumn 2025.
The municipal office building has a reinforced concrete frame and its facades are made of brick and wood. The brick chosen is a Finnish red brick with a vibrant surface that harmonises with the colours of the existing buildings on Vaalantie. As well as the brick exterior, the stairwell and rear courtyard canopy of the town hall are covered in red-stained vertical panelling. The background surface of the building’s name, which is located next to the main entrance, features a visually striking design of charred shingles. Tauno Seppänen’s bronze statue Laskumies (1984) has also been relocated to a prominent position in the front garden.
The municipal office’s functions are located over two floors. Facilities for residents are located close to the main lobby on the ground floor. The second floor houses staff workspaces and a break room with large windows that open onto a picturesque green landscape.
The interior colour scheme consists of calm, slightly warm tones. Wood tones and warm yellow tile surfaces have been used for effect in the design. Paintings owned by the municipality will be placed in prominent positions in the public areas of the new municipal building.
The implementation plan is based on a project plan for the municipality of Vaala, which was drawn up by UKI Architects in 2024.
