Architectural design of Äänekoski bioproduct plant
to UKI
UKI Arkkitehdit Oy and Metsä Fibre Oy have signed an agreement on the general and architectural design of the new Metsä Fibre bioproduct plant in Äänekoski.
Metsä Fibre, part of the Metsä Group, decided on April 21st, 2015 to build a bioproduct plant in Äänekoski, on the current pulp mill grounds. The plant is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2017. The bioproduct plant planned in Äänekoski is the biggest investment in the history of forest industry in Finland. The total investment of the project is ca. 1.2 billion euros.
Sweco Industry Oy and Sweco Rakennustekniikka Oy are responsible for the implementation planning of the project, and Valmet Oy and Andritz Oy are the main equipment suppliers, and UKI Arkkitehdit Oy delivers the general and architectural design.
UKI Arkkitehdit Oy has been architectural designer from the 1950s in such forest industry projects as Rauma and Fray Bentos pulp mills.
The project will employ 4-5 designers for about three years at UKI.
