UKI Arkkitehdit bought the business of Arkkitehtitoimisto Juhani Romppainen

Architectural firm UKI Arkkitehdit Oy from Oulu has bought the business of Arkkitehtitoimisto Juhani Romppainen Oy, also from Oulu. The firms have been in close cooperation for several years. The year before last, they already joined their forces by entering into a cooperation agreement mainly involving big district development projects.

According to the managing director of UKI Arkkitehdit, Mikko Heikkinen, now was the right time to seal the cooperation with a business agreement.

”Experiences from our cooperation are so good that both parties wanted to take this kind of step. Juhani Romppainen’s firm very strong especially in district and residential design. Now our firm gets more resources in these areas”, he says.

Heikkinen also points out that acquiring the business of Arkkitehtitoimisto Juhani Romppainen increases the status of UKI Arkkitehdit as a nation-wide operator. Romppainen has a strong position in district and residential design especially in Southern and Central Ostrobothnia as well as in coastal areas – in Vaasa and Seinäjoki, for example.

”We aim at designing big projects also in these regions”, says Heikkinen.

Both managing director Juhani Romppainen and Mikko Heikkinen emphasise that the most important thing is that this arrangement brings even better service to customers ordering architectural design.

”I informed our customers preliminarily about the business agreement in preparation and they were quite positive about it. Personally, I’m more than happy that we can now become part of a big and acclaimed firm”, says Romppainen.

UKI Arkkitehdit is one of the biggest architectural firms in Finland. Now almost 60 people work in its offices in Oulu, Helsinki and Jyväskylä. Arkkitehtitoimisto Juhani Romppainen Oy employed four people – all architects. They transferred to UKI Arkkitehdit as old employees.
