UKI Arkkitehdit participates Guggenheim Helsinki competition

guggenheim-1

In the competition entry of UKI Arkkitehdit, the new museum building is closely integrated in the historical urban structure of Helsinki by extending the city grid plan till the Eteläsatama waterfront. The building constitutes a functional and visual link between the Tähtitorninvuori park, sea and city. The museum building itself functions as a boardwalk from the park to the Eteläsatama waterfront and in this way serves as a meeting place for all inhabitants and visitors of the city.

Apart from diverse exhibition halls, the museum operation extends to the plazas and parks around the building. The architecture aims at timeless, distinctive design, clear museum tour and memorable indoor and outdoor spaces.
