Designing business and industrial buildings was in a central role for architectural firm Uki Heikkinen in the 1980s.
After the most active years of housing production, the focus in Finland shifted to cultural buildings. Oulu Town Orchestra and Conservatoire received modern premises when the new music centre, designed by architectural firm Uki Heikkinen, was built in Karjasilta.
The successful design of the concert hall aroused interest also outside Finland and consequently the firm was assigned to design a concert hall in Ankara, Turkey, at Bilkent university. The firm has subsequently served as specialist in several Turkish projects, such as the Odeon amphitheatre and the State Opera House projects. The fruitful cooperation still continues.
