Merit award for Järvenpää social and health care centre
Rakennusteollisuus RT ry has given the Laatuoivallus 2015 merit award to the Järvenpää hospital project, which was implemented with an alliance method. The award was addressed to project manager Jaakko Hakala and supervisor Esa Räsänen at NCC Rakennus Oy.
Doctor of engineering Jukka Pekkanen’s criteria for the award were the usability and customer perspective of the completed project, as well as the technical flawlessness of the building quality and the tidy appearance of the construction site.
The architectural and general design of the alliance project was delivered by UKI Arkkitehdit Oy together with architectural firm Tähti-Set Oy. Using the alliance model in design is justified especially when determining the result requires strong user involvement and developing the designs.
The user-driven VALO™ design method has been used from the start of the project. The savings achieved with the method are important in big construction projects, where the annual operating costs can be as big as the construction costs..
